| Most people hate to admit it but there no way to avoid the fact that the North American life is monetarily driven. You can’t eat without money. You can’t get from A-B without money. You can’t live in a warm, safe shelter without money. Basically in order to cover your basic and essential needs you require money.
I’ve realized that in fact it’s really sad that we stress out about money so much but for some of us I think it goes beyond our basic and essential needs.
Growing up educated, and in an average-above average neighborhoods, makes it harder for us to accept that most of us make (or will make) above average salaries. Often we continue to be unsatisfied with our earnings and strive for more. This may be a result of being surrounded by our above average friends and family. Our environment then deceives our concept of average into a skewed image of what this “average” life is supposed to be composed of. We then start believing that everyone is suppose to live in a 3 bedroom house with a 2 car garage in the prestigious areas of Toronto. But is that what reality is? Is the average life about traveling to another country annually? Is the average life about living in a prestigious 3-bedroom house or upscale condominium? Is the average life about having your children involved in winter, spring and summer sports? Is the average life about driving the luxurious car with the leather seats and butt warmers? Is the average life about dining out once a week at a “fancy smancy” restaurant?
I think we may have distorted our concept of average. |

| Pet Peeves
I don't know how they coined the term but surely there's no aspect of pet in this term. When I think of pet I usually picture my loving doggie and her warm affection. However soon as you place the word peeve in front of it you get thoughts like annoyance, anger, frustration, hate. (As for now I’m dropping the pet in pet peeves and will only be referring to it as PEEVES.)
Peeves can be like that annoying wet sock that you know is bugging the heck out of you but not enough to blow up on. But on the flip side of things peeves can also be the annoying let me hit a punching bag now so I can relieve my frustrations. Yesterday was a grab a punching bag quick before I implode day. Anyway after some self-talk (in attempts to calm myself down) I woke up still angry. Hopefully a day of snowboarding will help me unwind.
